Publications & Reports

Over the course of its 40 years, NCFI has completed hundreds of hours of field studies. The findings have carefully documented hundreds of North Carolina’s greatest artists, and are currently stored in the North Carolina State Archives. The results of those reports have bolstered exhibitions and websites, and many are featured in our online statewide artist directory.

NCFI’s reports gather information on specific artists and traditions of a particular region. The resulting combination of interviews, ethnographic research, and detailed history are of great use for the tourism industry, community organizations, scholars, and individuals who seek to hire folk artists for programming.
