NC Folk offers amazing opportunities for internships. Internships are intensive, structured, supervised, project-based opportunities for people who are interested in contributing to NC Folk. In contrast to volunteer opportunities, internships require a greater time commitment and closer supervision. Interns also have wider latitude, increased responsibility, more opportunity, and greater insight into the daily operations of a non-profit organization. Some internships are even paid. Successful past internships include:
- Researching and editing the Handbook for NC Folk and Traditional Artists
- Creating an annual campaign for Folklife Flashes and our social media
- Creating folk and traditional arts lesson plans for elementary school students
- Archiving and digitizing audio, film and photography collections
Interns also help us with IT, writing, documentation, digitization, podcasting, event planning, and more! Our internship positions also give community members the opportunity to learn marketable skills while working on projects that make a difference. Want to put your talents to use learning about and promoting traditional arts and cultures in the state?
