Blue Ridge Traditions Concert Series at Mountain Gateway Museum

Free Concerts

Saturdays, June 14 - July 26, 2008 at the Mountain Gateway Museum in Old Fort

For six Saturdays you can enjoy FREE concerts in the picturesque outdoor amphitheater at the Mountain Gateway Museum in the town of Old Fort. Come and meet the musicians, craft artists and storytellers who make this one of the best venues for traditional arts in the region.

Cherokee Heritage with Freeman Owle, the Welch Family, and fiddler Bobby Hicks

The Griggs, Paul Brown and the Toast String Stretchers

(At 4 PM, mountain dance workshop with Phil Jamison and Loretta and Lynsey Rice..)

Clarence Green with Wayne Martin, the Kruger Brothers

All performances are free and begin at 7 PM. Bring a picnic, a lawn chair, family and friends.

Craft demonstrations and hands-on activities, Saturdays, 2-6 PM. Highlights include: From Sheep to Sweater, June 28, and Summer Days, Summer Nights, July 26.

The Mountain Gateway Museum is located in Old Fort at 102 Water Street (the corner of Catawba and Water Streets). Take exit 73 off I-40, go north four blocks. The Museum is 23 miles east of Asheville and 50 miles west of Hickory.
